Description

Hervey Bay has now got more artificial reefs in addition to one of the oldest and biggest artificial reefs in Australia

The Government Agencies have got together and have sunk in various regions of fraser island

6 groups of very large concrete formations 3 per region

This will prove to be excellent dive sites as time goes by already there is fish life congregating

This is in addition to Hervey Bay having one of the largest Artificial Reefs in Australia

The Diving in Summer is very poor due to the tides and reduced visibility caused by the Mary River

Once Summer is over things start  to get better

Normally tidal range drops  and visibility  picks up

There are no dive shops in Hervey bay

However you can access Dive Equipment Hirethrough independant instructors

There is a Small personalised dive boat that takes only a maximum of 4 Divers

larger charter vessels are available for hire as Dive boats if required

the reefs offer great variety

The Roy Rufus massive fish life and old barges to explore

The new reefs seem to attract a lot of pelagics at this stage

Remember Hervey Bay is only a couple of hours from the Southern Great  Barrier Reef

This is VERY beautiful and really worth the trip

1.5 hours away is the best shore Diving in Queensland great soft coral and nudibranchs

so it is worth the effort not very commercial but that can be a good thing
